Many art commissions are scarily underpriced. A friend noticed my initial prices and schooled me, so I'll relay the same information to you:- You are paying for hand-crafted artwork designed specifically for you; a vanity item worth at the VERY LEAST minimum wage.
- You are paying for customer service and reliable communication.
- You are paying for the artist's experience, education, skill, style, materials, and potential hazards (eg. eyestrain, wrist pain).
- Most commissioning artists have spent countless hours honing their skills over years of practice. Many pay for expensive schooling to further improve their art quality.Purchasing underpriced art degrades art economy and takes advantage of talented young artists who don't know any better.
